Description
It’s hard to imagine Western Mongolia without its snowcapped mountains same as Kazakh falconers without their eagles. Bayan- Ulgii is the westernmost province of Mongolia which borders both with Russia and China. Majority of the people who live there, are Kazakh people with Turkish origin who practices Islamic and speak their native language. Nomadic as Mongolians, Kazakh people also own livestock and migrate several times a year. During this trip you will encounter Kazakh culture, people, their history, falconers and obviously see the highest points of Mongolia, Altai Tavan Bogd Summits.

EAGLE HUNTER FAMILY
Ulgii- Sagsai village 30km
- Today we start our journey with the flight to Ulgii city, the center of Bayan-Ulgii province which is nearly 1700kms away from Ulaanbaatar. Our flight will continue for 3 hours.
- Arrive in Ulgii. Our team will meet you at the airport. Short stop to pick up border permit. Continue driving to Sagsai Village where our Eagle Hunter’s family live.

EXPERIENCE WITH A FALCONER
- Today will be fully dedicated for learning about an old tradition of hunting with an eagle. You will opportunity to talk with the falconer and ask his experience of hunting and hear many interesting stories. If the eagle is in good mood, master can show you some of his training methods too.
- Except learning about Eagle training, you can also be the part of their daily life and help them around if you wish.

KHURGAN AND KHOTON LAKE
Sagsai village – Khurgan Khoton lakes 250km
- After breakfast we continue our driving to Khurgan and Khoton Lakes. These lakes are another famous site of the park which has outstanding scenery of forested walls of mountains along with snowcapped mounts. Shores of the lakes are main summer camp of local families. Both of lakes are also home of many migratory birds and fish species too.
- Explore the area on foot. Swimming opportunities. Our campsite will only few kilometers away from Chinese border.

BAGA TURGEN WATERFALL
Buugiing Khar – Tugrugiin Shiree 30km
- Continue with a trip to Baga Turgen valley where a majestic waterfall is located. This is one of the few waterfalls found in the region with high flow rate and icy cold water that flows out from the glacier. Big chunks of rock boulders make the place even more impressive.

ALTAI TAVAN BOGD NATIONAL PARK
Khurgan Khoton Lakes – Altai Tavan Bogd National Park 150km
- Our journey to the Mountains will start today. On the way to the Altai Mountains we will pass thru various both historical and archeological sites where you will see ancient Turkic stone monuments and Bronze age rock paintings.
- We will cross through picturesque river Tsagaan Gol and arrive at Ranger station of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park.

TAVAN BOGD- FIVE HOLY PEAKS OF ALTAI
- After breakfast, we saddle up our horses to starts our expedition towards the Altai Massifs. This vast mountainous park is situated on the borders Mongolia, China and Russia. Tavan Bogd or the name Five Holy Peaks of Altai was referred to the five highest peaks of the chain. Khuiten Summit is the highest snowcapped peak of all, which is 4374ms. Within the park there are some big and small sized 30 glaciers, several large lakes, and waterfalls, plenty of flora and fauna, and world class archeological sites such as Tsagaan Salaa Petro glyphs which are enlisted as World Heritage Site by UNESCO. When you are here, in the park, you can do various activities such as horse trekking, hiking, climbing, fishing, skiing and mountain biking.
- Arrive at Base camp by Potanin Glacier. Overnight in the tents. (B+L+D)

CLIMBING DAY- MALCHIN PEAK
- Early morning is the best time to view all the peaks of the Altai Mountains. Great opportunities for photo shooters. After breakfast, we will slowly start our climbing on the Malchin Peak, 4025ms. This is the peak which is reasonably climbable for amateurs without requiring professional mountaineering gears, experienced special guides. But obviously safety never harms. We will be walking on the rock boulders, gravel and hard snow to reach the top of the summit. Total climbing will take roughly 4.5 hours.

TREK BACK TO TSAGAAN GOL- WHITE RIVER
- After easy morning we will pack up our staff on the camel back and slowly head back trekking to Tsagaan Gol. Locals named this glacier river as White River due its milky white color.

HIKING TO KHARA-AIRIKH VALLEY
- Today we will continue our trip with a moderate hiking to Khara-Airikh Valley over the hills and passes with a scenic view of snowcapped peaks. This where we meet our vehicle.

DRIVE BACK TO ULGII
- Arrive in Ulgii. Visit local museum and local market where you will see the boosting life of the local people. Later afternoon for relaxing and refreshing.
